Angie sat down with Adriano Desiré—a London-based R&B producer whose journey from classical piano lessons to running his own studio is rooted in a lifelong love for music, connection, and storytelling through sound.
Tell us a bit about how your journey into music began.
For Adriano, music has always been a part of the picture. “I was nine when my mum brought home a piano and signed me up for Saturday lessons,” he recalls. That early introduction sparked something deeper—a curiosity that carried through school talent shows, vocal training, and theatre performances.
His passion followed him into college, where he studied Music Performance, and later university, where a degree in Creative Musicianship introduced him to the world of production. “That’s when it all clicked,” he shares. “I realised I could build songs from scratch and help shape an artist’s entire sound.” Since graduating in 2019, Adriano has been building his own production studio and establishing himself as a trusted name in the UK R&B scene.
What kind of artists do you usually work with?
For Adriano, it all comes down to vibe and connection. “I love working with artists who are in it for the love of the craft—people who bring both passion and playfulness to a session,” he explains.
While his style naturally leans into R&B, thanks to his jazz-influenced roots, he’s open to any genre. “It’s not so much about the sound—it’s about the energy. If the creative chemistry’s there, I’m all in.”
Any standout sessions that have stuck with you?
After years in the studio, Adriano admits that a lot of sessions blur together—but one that stands out was working with UK soul legend Beverley Knight. “It was an amazing day. The session was productive, super chill, and she brought her dog along, which just made everything feel wholesome and relaxed.”
Who were your earliest musical influences?
Adriano’s earliest musical role models were genre-defining legends like Bob Marley, James Brown, and Michael Jackson. “I was drawn to that energy, soul, and stage presence,” he says.
As his sound evolved, he found inspiration in R&B icons like Ne-Yo, Usher, and Jason Derulo. Today, his work is also shaped by artists such as Leon Bridges, Bruno Mars, and Cleo Sol—musicians who strike a rare balance between timeless soul and modern production.
Whether he’s stacking silky vocals, laying down jazz-inspired chords, or building grooves that make people move, Adriano is all about crafting music with feeling—and helping artists bring their vision to life in the most authentic way possible.
