“What kind of musicians do you usually work with?”
Blenna works with a wide range of artists but feels especially drawn to those who bring a strong sense of creativity. She enjoys collaborating across genres such as Afro-Soul, R&B, and fusion styles, because she loves the magic that happens when different sounds collide. For her, the best collaborations are with artists who not only flow naturally with her but also challenge her in new ways. Working with a variety of styles keeps her inspired and constantly growing.
“Any memorable studio moments that stand out?”
Some of Blenna’s most exciting studio memories come from freestyling sessions. In fact, about 80% of her track Hot On A Plate was freestyled. For her, these spontaneous moments are a reminder that music can sometimes come together effortlessly, creating energy and authenticity that can’t be forced.
“What were some of your earliest influences or inspirations in music?”
Growing up, Blenna was surrounded by a wide variety of music, making it difficult to point to a single influence. However, she credits the Afrobeats OGs she listened to in her early years with helping shape her sound. Over time, she has absorbed inspiration from a broad mix of artists across genres, each leaving their own unique imprint on her music.
“What is your background, and what inspired you to start making music?”
Music has always been part of Blenna’s life. She began singing in the choir at a young age, an experience that nurtured her passion and love for performance. Although she had been creating music for years, she officially started recording during the COVID era—a turning point that gave her the push to fully embrace her artistry. For Blenna, music isn’t just something she does; it’s an inseparable part of who she is.
“What would you say makes your music unique?”
What sets Blenna apart is her willingness to take risks. She approaches music with boldness and an experimental spirit, whether it’s through fusing unexpected genres or blending unusual sounds. Her openness to trying new things allows her to step outside the box, making her sound distinctively her own.
