For Amatiime, music has always been a reflection of who she is and where she comes from. With Igbo and Cross Riverian roots and formative years spent in Nigeria, she says her background gave her both rhythm and resilience.

“I grew up in Nigeria, and my earliest inspirations honestly came from my TV screen,” she recalls. “People like Ariana Grande on Victorious, Rihanna on MTV, and of course Beyoncé – she was literally everywhere. Those were the people who made me believe that music was something I wanted to do.”

Opening the Doors: The Making of “One Stop Shop”

Amatiime’s upcoming single “One Stop Shop” began with pure momentum. “I started working on One Stop Shop the same day I released Access back in July” she says. “The inspiration came from wanting to put out as much music as possible and get my name out there.”

But the song is more than just productivity, it’s about love. “The subject matter is about being able to provide whatever you want for the people you love. Basically, I’m a shop so come get whatever you want.”

Building Community Aisles

When asked about the kind of people she likes to create with, Amatiime doesn’t hesitate: “I like to work with women, and I also love being in queer spaces as I’m a queer woman myself,” she says. “It’s so important to surround yourself with like-minded people. But I also try not to be afraid of meeting people who may seem different to me at first, because as creatives, we all share a common ground.”

After Hours in the Home Studio

For Amatiime, the studio is where magic happens, especially when it’s her own space. “In terms of memorable studio moments, I’ll say I have the most fun at my home studio,” she shares. “Those late nights by myself or with a friend where there’s no time limit on how much I can create… those are my favourite times. The studio means inspiration, creation, and hard work for me.”

What makes Amatiime stand out is the independence in her process. “I think the thing that makes my music unique is the fact that I made it from start to finish,” she shares. “I’m a self-taught songwriter, producer, and I’ve been singing my entire life. I love to have a hand in every element of my music. That’s what makes me stand out from everyone else.”
