The forecast is in and it’s not just about the skies! Oshunda’s new two-pack, Weather Forecast, captures the emotional shift that comes with growth, self-reflection, and change. The project marks a moment of clarity for an artist learning to embrace who he is, inside and out.
Before the Clouds Formed: How It Began
Before studio sessions and streaming platforms, music was already a part of Oshunda’s everyday life. His father’s voice filled the home – from lullabies to family gatherings – mixing reggae, country, and R&B sounds that would later shape his ear.
“As a kid, I always heard music from my Dad singing us to sleep or when we would do family parties. But when I grew up a bit, that’s when I began to process what I was hearing. I personally dived into everything after that, and music became my best friend in everything.”
That love for sound turned into a natural talent early on. In primary school, Oshunda discovered he could memorize rap lyrics entirely by ear, long before lyrics were just a Google search away.
“We didn’t have Genius at the time. You’d either have to wait for the Daily Graphic papers, which would have lyrics in them, but I would learn everything just from listening over and over.”
That skill soon led him into production. What started with reciting raps turned into making beats, and eventually merging both – writing, producing, and shaping a sound entirely on his own.
Shifting Seasons: The Story Behind Weather Forecast
For Oshunda, Weather Forecast is more than just a title, it’s a reflection of where he is in life.
“It’s about the transition from summer into winter. This summer has been a very self-reflective period for me. These two songs explain that relationship with yourself – learning to love yourself, extending that love to others, and understanding that you don’t need to put on an act for anyone.”
The project captures that sense of change both seasonal and emotional, where growth means learning to stand comfortably in your own skin.
In His Element: Where Creativity Flows
Although Oshunda has experienced the energy of professional studios, he finds that his best ideas often come when he’s alone in his room, experimenting freely.
“There’s always something special about every writing process. But when I received Santi’s verse for 360, that was one of my favourite moments because his art and music have been pivotal in my journey.”
That personal, independent process gives his songs their depth – each one feels intentional and honest.
A Clearer Outlook
At the heart of Oshunda’s artistry is emotion. His songs are conversations he might not have out loud – a way of expressing what’s beneath the surface.
“My music is kind of like the thoughts I never said,” he reflects. “It’s me expressing how I really feel when I don’t want to talk about it.”
With Weather Forecast, Oshunda reminds us that growth isn’t always loud or dramatic – sometimes it’s quiet, steady, and deeply personal.
